The Arena Cachambi is a football stadium located in Rio de Janeiro, Guanabara, which is the home ground of the local football club Cachambi CF. The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 25,000 which makes it the second-largest football stadium in Guanabara.
History
Since its foundation in 1997, it played in the former Campo da Cachambi. That had as main entrance by Rua Cachambi (Cachambi Street), main street of the neighborhood, including given the name of the neighborhood. At the site, there was a small stadium with concrete bleachers and seating up to 10,000 people. But due to poor conservation rarely received release to receive this public. The club has run its games for 21 years at the venue between 1997 and 2018.
But in 2018, the stadium and the bleachers built in 1997 were demolished for the construction of Arena Cachambi, a modern stadium with a capacity for 25,000 people.
Construction
The total cost of construction was around C$30 million in Contos. The stadium was built between February and December 2018.
First Official Match
The first game happened on February 1, 2019. The Guanabara National Football Team won by 1 - 0 RUPA. Goal from striker Fabrício Martins, from Clube Atlético Ipanema.
